The Longevity Panel: five assessments, one biological baseline
Longevity diagnostics at minus10med in Athens is a five-part assessment of one biology. We measure metabolism and body composition, genetics and epigenetic age, skin and mole mapping, gut and immune markers, and cognition and stress. The five results are read together by one physician-led team and become your baseline.
What is included in a longevity diagnostic panel?
Most people arrive having had a company checkup: a lipid panel, a resting ECG, a chest X-ray and a fifteen minute conversation. That protocol was designed to catch disease that has already declared itself. The Longevity Panel is designed to describe the biology that precedes disease, and to describe it precisely enough that a change in behaviour, medication or therapy can be measured against it a year later.
Five assessment families run across one to two days at our partner clinic in Glyfada, on the Athenian Riviera. They are not five separate opinions. Each result is deposited into one record, and the synthesis is written by a physician who has seen all of it.
01 · Metabolic health and body composition
An InBody 970 segmental scan quantifies lean mass, fat distribution, visceral adiposity and total body water. Cardiopulmonary exercise testing produces your VO2 Max, still the single most predictive fitness marker for all-cause mortality in the published literature. Resting metabolic rate tells us what your body actually spends at rest, which is frequently far from the figure a consumer app estimates. Strength and cardiovascular stress analysis closes the picture: how much reserve you have, and how quickly you return to baseline after using it.
02 · Genetics, epigenetics and biological age
Whole exome sequencing reads the protein-coding regions where the great majority of clinically actionable variants sit. We use it for risk stratification across cardiovascular, oncological and neurodegenerative domains, and for pharmacogenomics, which tells us how you metabolise common drugs before one is prescribed rather than after it disappoints. Separately, epigenetic profiling estimates your biological age and your current pace of aging. Genetics is the hand you were dealt; epigenetics is how you are currently playing it, and unlike your genome, it moves.
03 · Skin and body surface mapping
Skin is an organ with a biological age of its own, and it is the only one you can photograph. AI-assisted total-body mole mapping records every lesion so that next year's image can be compared pixel to pixel rather than from memory. VISIA facial imaging scores texture, pigmentation, pores, vascularity and accumulated UV damage. A dermatologist reviews every capture; the software flags, the physician decides.
04 · Gut and immune intelligence
Low-grade, symptom-free inflammation is the quiet engine behind most age-related disease. Full microbiome mapping describes the community you are hosting and its metabolic output. Gut-immune blood biomarkers show what that community is doing to your immune tone. Food and environmental sensitivity testing explains symptoms patients have often been told to ignore. Where clinically appropriate we add blood-based multi-cancer early detection panels.
05 · Mind, stress and recovery
Cognitive span is healthspan. Validated cognitive testing establishes a personal baseline in your forties or fifties rather than a comparison against a population average in your seventies. Anxiety and stress diagnostics, oxidative stress analysis and continuous physiological readiness tracking describe your recovery capacity, including sleep architecture through an at-home study when indicated.
How long does the assessment take and what happens on the day?
Testing is scheduled across one full day, or two half-days if you prefer to separate the exercise testing from the imaging. Bloods are drawn first thing, fasted. Body composition, cardiopulmonary testing and surface mapping follow. Genetic and microbiome samples are collected the same morning and sent to accredited laboratories.
Results that resolve immediately are discussed the same day. Sequencing and microbiome analysis take longer, and your synthesis appointment is booked once every result has landed, so that no one asks you to make decisions from half a picture.
How are the five assessments combined into one result?
Each assessment produces numbers. Numbers in isolation produce anxiety, not health. The synthesis step is where an AI layer aligns the five domains against each other and against your own history, and a physician then writes the interpretation: what is normal for a population but abnormal for you, what is driving what, and which two or three levers will move the most biology in the next twelve months.
You leave with a biological age, a risk map, and a protocol. Every future test is read against that baseline, which is the point: the first panel tells you where you are, and the second one tells you whether anything you did actually worked.
Who should have a longevity panel, and when?
The panel suits anyone who wants their next twenty years planned with data rather than hope, and it is particularly useful when family history is loud, when performance has quietly declined, or when a hormonal transition has changed the rules. The patient profiles we see most often are described on our page on the patients minus10med is built for.
There is no minimum age. Baselines are more valuable the earlier they are taken, because the comparison is with your own former biology rather than with a reference range built from a sicker population.
How much does longevity diagnostics cost in Athens?
Diagnostics are delivered inside a program rather than sold test by test, because a result without an interpretation and a follow-up is an expense rather than a plan. Essentials, Precision and Ultimate Longevity each contain a different depth of the panel, and every tier includes two remote follow-ups over four to six weeks. Prices and included hours are listed in full on the programs and pricing page.
If you want the complete diagnostic arsenal compressed into a single private day, with imaging that the standard panel does not include, that is a separate tier described on the VIP AI-Guided Diagnostics page.
